At Home and Across the World: Unite Us Now!

Our hearts grow heavy with the devastating natural events occurring across the nation, including hurricanes in Texas, Florida and the Caribbean, and wildfires in Oregon and California.
More than ever, we are thinking about the safety of our loved ones, and pausing to show them that they are safe and loved.
Although many of us have close friends and family impacted by these events, many of us in Portland have been fortunate not to experience them first-hand.
From this position of good luck, we feel compelled to reach out and help the people in need right now. We want to expand our definition of “home” and “community,” and to build deeper connections with people no matter where they are.
Thank you, global visitors, for making this a summer to remember.
It was our great honor this summer to share our Unitus Plaza home with our Credit Union brethren from around the world.
On August 11, we partnered with the U.S. Department of State and the World Affairs Council of Oregon to host prominent members of African government and commerce at Unitus Plaza in downtown Portland.
We were thrilled that we were able to aid in their research project promoting transparency, honesty and fairness in business. We were excited to cultivate these global connections.
On August 21, we shared special moments with our guests from North, South, and Central America to view the once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse event from our Salem branch in the zone of totality.
Our guests visited all the way from Guatemala, Costa Rica, Columbia, Peru, Ecuador and Mexico – but they share many of the same goals and challenges we have here.
By comparing our strategies for economic and community development, we both learned new ways of solving the challenges we face today.
Thank you, our members, for helping each other.
When we reach out and help each other, life becomes better for everyone. It doesn’t matter whether we are designing a more appealing checking solution, donating to a disaster relief organization, or helping push someone’s car out of a ditch.
No act is too small. There is so much we can learn, and when we promote this mutual sharing our whole community gets stronger.
We will continue to do everything in our power to help our communities, and we invite all of our Unitus members and the rest of our communities to unite and help each other in these trying times.
