Portland, Ore., August 14, 2018 – Unitus is hosting a Human Foosball event in downtown Portland for the fourth year running, bringing in eleven local businesses to compete inside an immense inflatable arena at Unitus Plaza.

The event kicks off Friday, August 17, at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. There will be nine head-to-head matchups, each lasting 10 minutes. To mirror the style of a traditional foosball table, teammates will be tethered together, requiring them to cooperate as a team to defend their goals and outscore their opponents. The action will take place in a 60-foot inflatable arena provided by Portland Party Works.

“Bringing together local businesses and community members is one of our most important and rewarding goals as a credit union,” said Laurie Kresl, Chief Marketing Officer of Unitus. “When you coordinate a fun event that combines exercise, strategy, and a little friendly competition, it’s no wonder people have been enjoying it for several years straight!”

Eighteen teams will square off during the event, with five players to a team. In the first hour, six teams of Unitus employees will compete against each other. Through the remainder of the event, local businesses will challenge one another for lifelong bragging rights. Players will be treated to lunch catered by Jersey Mike’s.

The local organizations fielding teams during the event are: Portland Rose Festival Foundation, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation, Shelter Products, Inc., City Center Parking, Certified Languages International, McDonald & Wetle, Sterling-Pacific, Rizzo Mattingly Bosworth PC, Terwilliger Plaza, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Kaiser Permanente.
